I bought the book in March and officially began my own, individual trek through the desert on March 16. Since then I have lost approximately 40 lbs, and am losing at a quicker rate in the past month or so than when I first started (mostly as a result of progressively becoming more obedient). Praise the Lord! The book was very easy to follow, presented the WD principles clearly, and most of all, the truth of what was written resounded within my spirit.
I must say, however, I am truly a "book person." I LOVE to read, and read, and read - so it was not hard for me to get started using only the book. As a matter of fact, I first came across the WD program about 3 and a half years ago, when a friend mentioned it to me and loaned me two of the audio tapes from her workshop. However, I wasn't able to sign up for class at the time, and it wasn't until I saw the whole teaching of WD laid out in book form that I felt a light bulb go on in my head.
I would like to join a workshop soon, or even start one - people are noticing the weight loss and are asking what I'm "doing." Also I would like to be in a workshop for the fellowship and for the materials that I don't have access to right now - but I thank God that He has begun a good work in me (without the workshop) and will perfect it!
So, those of you who want to begin by reading the book be encouraged! If you will read the book with an open heart and mind, the truth will speak to you, and you can experience the same freedom and victory that I, and many others have! Other books you may want to check out that have been beneficial in my desert journey are "Reasonably Thin" by Jesse Dillinger and "Diets Don't Work" by Bob Schwartz.
God Bless!!!
